Remember Campfire Safety this Summer!! : camping

As summer is coming up, it is essential that us campers practice campfire safety when lighting and putting out our campfires. Combine the facts that it will be the hottest time of year during an extreme drought (in the West) and the effects of climate change it is more important than ever to make sure fires are completely put out and started in a safe manner. Pasted below is a link to Smoky the Bear’s rules on how to start, manage, and extinguish campfires in ways that are environmentally safe and minimize the possibility of forest fires. We all love cooking a nice hotdog over a warm campfire; however, it is important to remember that a single campfire left improperly attended has the potential to turn into a multi-thousand acre blaze.
