Boil water directly in the GoSun Sport solar cooker? : camping

I recently got a GoSun Sport, and I love it.

I’m wondering whether I can use it in a way that is not recommended by the manufacturer. Of course, anything I do is at my own risk, and no one reading this should do anything just because people on reddit are talking about it.

Okay, so: I would like to use my GoSun Sport it to boil water.

  1. One way to do this is recommended by the manufacturer: use the GoSun Kettle. I don’t love this method since the kettle seems way smaller than the vacuum tube. I’m sure it speeds up the process, but I would rather boil more water and take longer (if that were possible).

  2. Another possibility might be to boil water directly in the vacuum tube. They told me not to do this, but I’m not convinced it’s that dangerous. You can turn the GoSun Sport vertical, and it seems like you can boil water directly in the smaller GoSun Go. That doesn’t mean you can do it with the GoSun Sport, but it makes me wonder.

  3. Is there some kind of alternative to the GoSun Kettle? Like maybe a steel tube, closed at one end, with a slightly less than 5.4cm diameter and close to 60cm in length? (Along with some kind of silicone plug or something?)

Wondering whether people have thoughts/experiences about method #2.
